Pet Transport FAQs

Find clear answers to common questions about domestic and international pet relocation from Cyprus.
What is pet transport?
Pet transport is the safe relocation of a pet from one place to another, either within a country or internationally. It can include flight arrangements, veterinary visits, travel documentation and safe transport to and from airports or clinics.
Why should I use a pet transport service?
Pet relocation requires careful planning, precise timing and coordination with airlines, veterinarians and government authorities. A professional pet transport service manages these details, helping make the process safer and less stressful for you and your pet.
How can you help with my pet’s relocation?
We manage your pet’s relocation from planning through arrival. Our support may include:
  • Arranging your pet’s travel itinerary
  • Coordinating veterinary appointments, check-ups and required procedures
  • Assisting with permits and travel documentation
  • Providing clear guidance throughout the relocation process
Our aim is to help your pet travel safely and comfortably while removing the burden of complex logistics from you.
Can you help if my pet is flying alone or traveling with me?
Yes. We can assist whether your pet will travel in the cabin with you, as accompanied baggage, or independently as cargo. We guide you through the applicable process and coordinate the required arrangements.
Is the initial consultation free?
Yes. Your initial consultation is free and gives us a chance to understand your pet’s needs, destination and likely requirements. We can then explain the process and provide an accurate outline of the expected costs, with no obligation to proceed.
How does the pet relocation process work?
We begin with a free consultation to review your pet’s details and destination. We then identify the relevant requirements, coordinate with veterinarians and airlines, prepare the necessary documents and manage the logistics through departure and arrival.
What are the ways my pet can travel by air?
There are three common air-travel options for pets:
  • In-cabin: Small pets that meet the airline’s size and weight limits may travel with their owner in the passenger cabin.
  • Accompanied baggage: Pets that are too large for the cabin may travel in the aircraft hold on the same flight as their owner, subject to the airline’s rules.
  • Manifested cargo: A pet travels as a separate cargo shipment, often used for larger pets or when the owner is not traveling on the same flight.
We recommend the most suitable option based on your pet’s size, the destination, airline policies and your own travel plans.
How early should I begin planning my pet’s relocation?
Contact us as soon as you begin considering a move. Some destinations have long lead times because of rabies titer test waiting periods, quarantine rules or document-validity deadlines. Starting early provides the best opportunity for a smooth journey.
Do you provide assistance on the day of the flight?
Yes. We can assist with the airline process on departure day, including check-in coordination and ensuring your pet is correctly handed over to the airline. You will not need to navigate airport procedures alone.
What happens when my pet arrives at the destination?
For pets traveling as manifested cargo, we coordinate with the receiving party or your destination contact to support customs clearance and safe collection. Ground transport from the airport may also be available for selected destinations.
Which documents does my pet need to travel?
Requirements depend on the destination. In many cases, pets need current vaccination records, a health certificate from an accredited veterinarian and government-issued permits. Certain destinations also require an ISO-compliant microchip and a rabies titer test. We confirm the exact requirements for your route.
Which permits are needed to export a pet from Cyprus or an EU Country?
Pet exports from Cyprus require permits and clearances from the Vet Services. The exact documentation varies by destination. We can manage the permit application and coordination process on your behalf.
Does my pet need a microchip?
Many countries require an ISO-standard 15-digit microchip before a pet can travel. If your pet has not yet been microchipped, we can coordinate this with a veterinarian as part of the pre-travel preparation.
What is a rabies titer test, and does my pet need one?
A rabies titer test, also called a rabies serology test, measures rabies antibodies in your pet’s blood. It is required for entry into many destinations and may be particularly important for pets traveling from countries considered high risk for rabies. We can help arrange and process the test where required.
Will my pet need quarantine when traveling internationally?
That depends on the destination. Some countries require quarantine on arrival, while others require only an inspection or assessment before customs clearance. We assess your route and help you prepare for the smoothest possible entry.
How long does pet quarantine last?
Quarantine periods vary by country. They may range from a short facility inspection to several weeks. In some cases, quarantine can be reduced or avoided when all pre-travel requirements are completed correctly and on time.
Can pet quarantine be avoided?
For destinations with quarantine rules, the required period can sometimes be shortened or waived. This usually depends on completing requirements in advance, such as microchipping, rabies titer testing and accurate document submission. Early preparation is essential.
How much does pet transport cost?
The cost depends on your pet’s size and breed, destination, travel method and the services required. After the free consultation, we provide a detailed quote so you can understand the expected costs before committing.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. We believe in transparent pricing. Your quote clearly sets out the services we will handle, so you know what to expect before moving forward.
Do you arrange pet transport to the United States?
Most likely not.
Do you arrange pet transport to Canada, the UK and Europe?
Most likely not. Canada, the UK, Australia and European countries each have their own import requirements. We guide you through the relevant rules and documentation for your specific destination.
Can you import pets into Cyprus?
Yes. We also manage inbound pet relocation to Cyprus. This includes coordinating with the Vet Services and helping ensure import requirements are completed before your pet arrives.
