Protaras Streetcats is a volunteer effort to feed the stray cats of Protaras, Cyprus. Every donation is used only to buy cat food (a 20 kg bag costs from around €30) for the cats around Green Bay, Lombardi, Mesogios, Coralli, Figtree Bay and Capo Bay. The tourist season ends around the end of October, and winter is the hardest time for them.

Where the Protaras Street Cats Are Fed

I feed cats in these areas of Protaras. Some overlap with other feeders:
- Green Bay
- Lombardi
- Mesogios
- Coralli
- Figtree Bay
- Capo Bay
I also have roughly 12 cats at my own home. The number varies, because many come to us in winter when the restaurants and hotels are closed.

Why Protaras Street Cats Need Help in Winter
The situation gets bad at the end of each summer season, roughly the end of October. There are hardly any tourists and few flights come to Cyprus in winter. The streets are empty and the cats are starving.
The weather is not too bad yet, but it will get worse. January and February are the worst months, with rain, cold and sometimes a little snow or hail.
I can still buy quite a lot of cat food myself, but sooner or later it will get tight. There are quite a few other cat feeders in the Protaras area, and all of them will struggle to get enough food for their feeding areas. I can feed some, but not all, of the street cats here, and not everybody can do everything.
Donating Safely
I know there are a lot of shelters, individuals and animal lovers asking for financial help, and this is just another one. There are also a lot of scams around, so be careful where you donate. I will always acknowledge your contribution if you let me know about it.
