Finding the Right Crate Size for Your Dog (or Cat)

Flightparent-Take me Home!

One of the simplest ways to make your new puppy feel at home is with a safe, sturdy dog crate. The right crate not only creates a safe place to contain your pet when you can’t be there, but it also taps into a dog’s natural instinct to den. Most dogs love having a place of their own and may retreat to their crate anytime they need a little “me” time. As a bonus, crates usually make housetraining a lot easier by giving your dog a space in your home that is exclusively “theirs”! Additionally you will need a good right sized IATA Approved Crate when traveling with your Pet with an Airline. Not all Airlines accept Pets in Hold or Cabin but those who do, will want you to use an IATA Approved Crate. Guidance for Dimensions of Container To assist in determining the approximate size of the traveling container, the following formula may be useful. When calculating the minimum internal height of the container, the height of bedding should be added to the height of the animal. Animal measurements: A = length of animal from tip of nose to base/root of tail. B = height from ground to elbow joint. C = width across shoulders or widest point (whichever is the greater). D = height of animal in natural standing position from top of the head or the ear tip to the floor (whichever is higher). Note: Measurements A, B, C and D for determining the container dimensions must relate to the largest animal. Download the Container Requirements 1 in English (pdf) applicable to cats and dogs (CR1 LAR 2023) What Crate Size should be used for a large Dog? Large dogs need a minimum crate length of 90 centimeters. You can also find XL and XXL dog crates measuring up to 120 centimeters long. Measure your dog’s height and length, and then add 10 centimeter to each dimension to find the right size crate. As an Example SKUDO 6 – 92 x 63 x 70 cm – Plastic dog crate – Dog carrier SKUDO 7 – 105 x 73 x 76 cm – Plastic dog crate – Dog carrier

How it works at Flight Parent

Flightparent-Take me Home!

IMPORTANT: If you have reserved and paid for a Space for your Pet and for some or other reason the Pet CANNOT fly, I can not refund you the  Ticket Share Part. I WILL try my best to find somebody else to take your Reservation but it might not always be possible, especially on short notice as the Pets require about 3 weeks to get their Paperwork in order. I  try to find a reasonable priced flight from Larnaca always with Aegean (as I can take up to 5 Pets) and a Return Ticket with any Airline depending on Time and Costs). There are basically 2 Costs. My Ticket Share , which is the total Cost divided by 5 (plus a bit extra to cover my Airport Parking, Petrol, Food etc.)AND the Freight or IATA approved Crate cost which goes to Aegean or any other Airline you choose to fly with. The Total Costs in the end depends on the Weight of the Crates. Aegean has 2 Option for Pet in Hold:(Under 25kg costs EUR 120.00 and over 25kg costs Eur 190.00. This needs to be paid to the Airline or can be paid to me and I just pay it for you at the Counter on the Flight Day.)Tickets are quite pricey around Christmas and general School Holiday times. Later they get a bit cheaper again. To save a bit you can put more than 1 Dog or Cat in a Crate (up to 3), of course that might bring it over 25kg BUT still cheaper than paying for 2 Boxes UNDER 25kg.To reserve and be sure to have a Space it is best to pay the Ticket Share Part straight away. That way the Space is reserved for you but CANNOT BE REFUNDED IF FOR SOME REASON THE PET CANNOT FLY.The Crate Charge can be paid at the Counter on the day if you wish.Normally I am at Gate 13  for checking in the Animals around 3.00 to 3.15 am (special area which handles the Pets). Here is a map how to reach Gate 13https://www.flightparent.com/new-larnaca-shelter-animals-dogscats-check-in-procedureupdate/If you are coming from the Motorway just turn off the last exit JUST before the Airport (sign says KITI or MENEOU) and drive downhill to the Round about below the Motorway, take first exit left (going towards Larnaca and Old Airport.) Next smaller roundabout take second exit (sign says CONTROL TOWER) and keep to right when the Road forks. You will come to a Dead End which is Gate 13.GPS Co Ordinates34.872542,33.609649Payment for the Ticket share and/or Freight charge can be made:PAYPAL info@flightparent.comhttps://www.paypal.me/flightparentREVOLUT +357 97682182REVOLUT http://revolut.me/manfreyof

Are TRACES necessary?

Flightparent-Take me Home!

Are Traces really necessary? I get this Question asked all the time. I have flown a few times without Traces but it is the responsibility of the Sender in Cyprus to get the TRACES done. Flying without TRACES is a Risk! In Cyprus we have 5 different Veterinary Services, one for each Province. I emailed ALL 5 of them with the same Question: Are TRACES necessary to send a Stray Cat from Cyprus to an Adopter in Germany (for example) Here are their Answers: Limassol Thank you for your email. Please be advised that all animals traveling to another country for adoption need a Traces Certificate as they are changing ownership. An EU passport is a requirement along with Rabies Vaccination and a clinical examination within the last 48 hours prior to departure. I am attaching a declaration form, to be filled in and send back to us at least 5 working days prior to the flight. We shall then provide you with an appointment for the collection of the Traces Certificate after the animal’s clinical examination at your private vet. The fee for issuing the certificate is €34,17 per animal for individuals and €10,00 per animal for registered organizations. According the new EU animal law a registered or approved organizations has to be involved. Our office days and hours are Monday to Friday 07:30 – 15:00 – exceptionally and upon request and availability we may open on a Saturday and provide certificates, however the request has to be done before confirming a booking. Should you require any additional information or clarifications please do not hesitate to contact me. Nicosia Attached you will find the document that has to be completed in order for traces to be issued. In the link below you will find information about traveling with your companion animal. http://www.moa.gov.cy/moa/vs/vs.nsf/vs07_en/vs07_en?OpenDocument You can find our address in the link below. https://www.google.com/maps/place/%CE%9A%CF%84%CE%B7%CE%BD%CE%B9%CE%B1%CF%84%CF%81%CE%B9%CE%BA%CE%AD%CF%82+%CE%A5%CF%80%CE%B7%CF%81%CE%B5%CF%83%CE%AF%CE%B5%CF%82+%CE%9A%CF%8D%CF%80%CF%81%CE%BF%CF%85/@35.1445687,33.4026127,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x14de182601bf44c9:0xb7cc9abe19794862!8m2!3d35.1445643!4d33.4048014 The cost for the issuing of one traces for an animal is 34,17 Euro (VAT included). Working hours: Monday-Friday 7:30-15:00. Weekends we work on demand. Pafos Regarding your questions about this matter, please see the answers below: 1. If the cat travels alone to be adopted in Germany it needs a TRACES certificate. 2. Attached you can find a blank traces declaration form to fill out with all the information needed. You send this form at least 15 days before flight, to these three emails: dvs.paphos@vs.moa.gov.cy, aperdikos@vs.moa.gov.cy, operikenti@vs.moa.gov.cy. You collect the certificate from Pafos District Veterinary Office the date and time you state on the traces declaration form. 3. The certificate can be done by a private person or through an animal shelter organization. If done by … Continue reading →
