Germany/Cyprus extends Lock-down AGAIN

Lockdown restrictions in Germany will be extended until March 7, Chancellor Angela Merkel and the country’s 16 state governors agreed on Wednesday, in an attempt to stop Covid-19 variants undermining falling infection rates. Cyprus has extended until March the current national lock-down imposed following a spike in COVID-19 cases after allowing some easing of restrictions in the last week. A decision was taken to extend the national lockdown until at least the end of February by the cabinet on Wednesday, following advice from the ministerial committee managing the pandemic, the Health Ministry said. For the next three weeks, the 9 pm-5 am curfew remains with people still limited to leaving their homes twice a day. AND “THEY”WILL EXTEND IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AS IT SUITS THEM AND TO BREAK US ALL.(AND NOT TO GET RID OF THE FLU/VIRUS)

Catnip And what it does

Cats have an extra scent organ called the vomeronasal gland in the roof of their mouth. This special pathway allows scents that are collected in the nose and mouth to be carried to the brain. Nepetalactone is the oil that’s found within the catnip plant’s leaves that can cause behavioral changes in cats. F     or a cat to be exposed to this substance, they have to smell the catnip. Catnip mimics feline sex hormones, so cats enjoying this substance will often display behaviors similar to a female cat in heat (although both male and female cats can experience the effects). These behaviors can include overt signs of affection, relaxation, and happiness. Other cats will display active behaviors, such as playfulness or sometimes even aggression. For cats that have a positive experience with catnip, it can help reduce anxiety and even relieve pain. Some veterinarians have recommended using catnip to help with separation anxiety if your cat will be home alone for an extended period of time. Does Catnip Work on All Cats? Not all cats will respond to the active compound in catnip. Veterinary studies suggest that about 60% of cats will have a behavioral reaction to catnip. There is also evidence that a cat’s response to catnip is a dominant trait that’s based on genetics. How Long Does Catnip Last? Catnip effects will vary in length, depending on the cat. Usually, the behaviors associated with smelling catnip will last for around 10 minutes and then wear off gradually. It could then take 30 minutes without smelling catnip for the cat to become susceptible to the effects again. Catnip does lose its potency over time, so it is recommended to keep it in an airtight container for maximum freshness. Can Kittens Have Catnip? Catnip is not harmful for kittens, but most cats won’t react to catnip until they are 6 months to 1 year of age. Some cats can be exceptions to this rule, as they will slowly increase their sensitivity over the years. Can Cats Eat Catnip? Is It Safe? Cats can ingest catnip, and it may even be helpful for their digestive tract. The catnip plant has actually been used in people for its antidiarrheal properties. With this said, it is important to prevent your cat from ingesting large amounts of catnip, as this can cause digestive upset. Can Cats Overdose on Catnip? Too much catnip can cause health problems in cats, such as vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, or having trouble walking. For 11 years now, we (METRO SUPERMARKETS) are doing our best for the stray animals in Cyprus. Give it a home and get back pure love. For yet another year, the biggest support act for the strays and the Animal Welfare Organizations, is here and counts: 1. 600+ adoptions of stray animals 2. 2.5 tons of food provided by sponsors 3. €13,000 donated by METRO This year the conditions dictate that we keep our distances so that we all stay healthy. So, instead of hosting the animals at METRO supermarkets, we will visit the animals. For a whole week, October 10 – 17, you can visit the Animal Welfare Organizations and support them by adopting your new fluffy friend. Busy June/July

WoW, June/July have been busy months for me as Flightescort.Some people expected (or are still expecting) a second Wave of C, and wanted to get as many Dogs and Cats out of Cyprus as possible. Additionally some of my Flights pre C had been cancelled but still needed to be done. Larnaka Airport partially re opened again on June 9th. Our first flight was already on June 14, but because Aegean was not yet fully operational we had to use Lufthansa. 2 seperate Flights in June with Lufthansa to Frankfurt, then 5th of July to Berlin, 10th of July to Düsseldorf, 14th of July back to Frankfurt, 22nd of July Düsseldorf again and finally 25th to Hamburg. August won’t be so crazy as a lot of Adopters are on Holiday and also Ticket Prices are steep. Clocked up a lot of Air Miles but because of C could not make full use of them. Fast Lane (Priority Boarding) has currently been disabled, and the normally quite nice Food in the Business Lounges has been replaced with ‘pandemic food’. (speak individually wrapped Sandwiches) They must be saving a ton of Money in their Catering Dept.:) First Destination in August will be Stuttgart, then it’s Düsseldorf again and later on back to Brussels to help some Dogs get to the UK, in Co-operation with 101 Pet Express

Cyprus Flightban extended (again)

Cyprus has extended a ban on all inbound and outbound flights for another two weeks until May 28 as part of its efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Cyprus’ Transport Ministry said Monday only cargo flights, inbound flights of empty aircraft intending to fly out those wishing to depart the island nation and emergency and humanitarian flights are exempt.
